Wednesday - Heading Home

Wednesday morning was an early one, as we had a 9:30 AM taxi reserved at the Voyage dock. Everything went well and we saw a great sunrise heading back from St. John. Great time with great friends seeing great places, but I'm ready to go home.

Tuesday Relaxation

Tuesday was a very laid back day. We sailed awhile, and then sailed awhile more. We drank a few beers, and then drank a few beers more. A great dinner was cooked on the boat while moored at Hawks Nest in St. John. We also thought we saw a guy playing a piccolo on the beach......

The 92nd largest yacht in the world (according to Google) was anchored right behind us and messed up our sunset shot. We figured if that was our biggest problem on that evening, then we were doing alright.

Monday Update

Yesterday, we left Cynthia's and went over to Great Harbor to the Customs house since we were going to St. John. We walked around a little and met the great Foxy. Then we had a great sail to St John. After a wet dinghy ride to Customs there, we ate a good lunch and walked around a bit. We headed back to the boat and swam some and then cooked a a pork tenderloin.

Sunday Evening with Cynthia

After we left Sandy Spit, the Bubbly pool was next. After that, it was "Cynthia time". We grabbed a mooring ball in Little Harbor and headed to Harris' Place. Cynthia, as usual, came running to the dinghy dock yelling "cousin Ken, cousin Ken". It brought a small tear to our eye....... (not really)

We sipped a bushwhacker and got caught up on the happenings in Cynthia's life and then headed back to the boat. Dinner included grouper, ribs, chicken, rice, pork and key lime pie.

While we were waiting on our food, Ken struck up a conversation with some folks at another table - imagine that? As it turns out, they were from Glasgow, not far from where Ken's daughter Emma goes to school in Scotland. Instant friends......

Sunday Afternoon

We left Anegada and headed toward Jost Van Dyke. There was very little wind, so we expected a long trip. After we got underway, we actually averaged 7 knots or so - a great sail.

Sandy spit was too tempting to pass, so we anchored, packed a cooler, and went ashore. What an island.........

Conch Shell Opening 101

We watched a local girl open a conch shell yesterday.

The Anegada Sunset

No description necessary....

A Cow Wreck Kind of Day

After we got to Anegada, we made the executive decision to head to Cow Wreck Beach for conch fritters and something to wash them down with. We took the dinghy ashore and then walked around the west end of the island all the way to Cow Wreck. We earned those fritters and cocktails......

After several hours there, Ken and Terry asked the owner of Cow Wreck if she would drive us back to the dinghy (they are pretty well connected down here). We swam a bit back on the boat and sipped a few painkillers as the sun was going down.

Saturday Morning........Off to Anegada!

Last night was pretty calm. Barbeque at Jumbie's and of course a few cocktails to make sure that we stay properly hydrated. Safety first you know.

This morning, we moved to the gas dock to be first in line for the water refill. It was pretty entertaining, as there were three or four huge yachts at the dock. Watching the crews work (see below) made us realize the upkeep on those big boats.
On the way to Anegada, Terry caught a fish.

We are now heading to Cow Wreck for a few cold adult beverages. Photos to follow.

Friday Afternoon Update

We headed to Savannah Bay around lunch time and relaxed a little there. I think Savannah Bay may be the prettiest beach down here - at least until we get to the next beach......

As we were leaving for Leverick Bay, we got rained on. Not for long though, and we made sure to cover our beers.

We are at Leverick Bay now. It's barbeque night!

It's almost time for a world famous, internationally renowned, Captain Ken Painkiller. He'll tell you the recipe, but he'd have to kill you.

At Emma's Request

I understand Emma wanted to see the flags that we have flying......

Friday Morning

Up at the crack of dawn, we were the third boat to arrive at the Baths. After a little snorkeling, we headed to Fallen Jerusalem for a little exploring. These photos tell the story much better than I can.......

Thursday Evening - Arrrrrrrrrrrr!!

We grabbed a mooring ball at Marina Cay and went up to watch Michael Beans. It rained a little while we were there, but not too bad. Mike Love represented our table in the conch shell blowing competition, but petered out after only 14 seconds. A 12 year old, a great grandmother and a midget blew longer than he did. We immediately retreated to the boat in shame.

After a few cocktails, we grilled chicken on the boat and called it a night.
